Several cases of consumers detecting the smell of natural gas near their homes have been reported to the emergency service of the Chisinau-Gaz company.
"The preliminary cause may be an increase in the dose of odorant added to natural gas to give it a characteristic smell. This is a necessary safety measure that allows for the timely detection of possible gas leaks, as natural gas itself has no odor," stated the acting head of Moldovagaz, Vadim Ceban, IPN reports.
The emergency service of Chisinau-Gaz, together with the operator of the natural gas transmission network, is conducting checks on the odorant level and analyzing possible causes for changes in its concentration.
"Please remain calm and immediately call emergency services if you detect the smell of gas," emphasized Vadim Ceban, the acting head of Moldovagaz.
