The prize award ceremony of the 4th edition of the Technical and scientific Terminology Contest for students, will take place on Wednesday, May 3, 2006. The goal of the contest is acknowledging and promoting the regional terminology in Moldova, stimulating the knowledge of the standard literary language. Participating at the contest allows the students, future specialist, to investigate the lexicographic resources, to get proper abilities for terminological research and for translation and redacting the specialized texts. The contesters, regardless of the fact they had to know very well the Romanian terminology, they had to find equivalents in French, English and Russian, to formulate definitions and to determine certain grammatical categories, to translate in Romanian a text written in one of the mentioned languages. According to the rules, three cash prizes are offered by the National Terminology Centre. A prize for “The best work” will be offered by the Latin Union and the Technical University will offer encouraging cash prizes. The Technical and Scientific Terminology Contest for the students of Moldova is organized every year starting with 2002. The National Terminology Centre is a structure of the Philological Institute of the Science Academy of Moldova.
