The Romanian People's Party candidate for the position of mayor of Chișinău, Vladimir Țurcanu, claimed that the Socialist Party, through a surrogate, alleged that the PPR violated the electoral legislation through the campaign video ads that present good practices in five cities from Romania. The mayoral hopeful said that he upholds the rules that are invoked in a complaint filed in court and said that they were not violated and that he will prove it.
In a press conference, Vladimir Țurcanu said that the complaint regards three ads filmed in București, Brașov, Sibiu, Cluj and Iași. "It is difficult to understand which state institutions and public authorities those from PSRM saw in the PPR ads, since it is not obvious that those would be public authorities or state institutions. Moreover, the ads show historical centers, the outskirts and the example of how Sibiu was extended. Unlike Chișinău, where buildings are piled up in the city center, Sibiu expanded the suburbs so that the city can breathe and there are no traffic jams", said the candidate.
According to him, the applicant considers that a combination of three colors was used seven times which, in his opinion, would correspond to the official marks of the Republic of Moldova, more precisely to the colors on the country's flag. According to the technical code, these colors are identical to those found in the PPR logo, which was accepted by the Public Service Agency, then by the Central Electoral Commission. "Neither the official flag of Romania nor the one of the Republic of Moldova contain the same shades of blue as the Romanian People's Party logo. In conclusion, I will say that the norms invoked in the respective complaint have not been violated", said Vladimir Țurcanu.
