More than 7 thousand Moldovan citizens registered in advance, thus announcing their intention to vote on October 20 in another country. A majority of the registrations – 2,665 – are from the Russian Federation.
According to CEC data, Russia is followed by Italy, where 692 Moldovan voters have pre-registered. In Germany 635 citizens announced their intention to vote.
Pre-registration is one of three criteria used by the Central Electoral Commission to decide the number of polling stations to be opened abroad. The deadline for pre-registration is September 6.
As for postal voting, which is implemented in six countries and for which prior registration is mandatory, the number of applicants to date is 538.
Citizens from the six countries must also register on the pre-registration online platform by accessing inregistrare.cec.md. This can be done no later than 45 days before election day.
