The National Bureau of Migration will be liquidated
The National Bureau of Migration will be liquidated and its competencies will be taken over by specialized ministries. This decision was taken by the Cabinet Council on Wednesday, 17 May.
According to the decision, the functions of NBM will be taken by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). MEC will have the obligation to elaborate and implement the regulation policies of the work force migration processes, to elaborate work authorizations for the foreign citizens, to define the statute of the migrant worker and also to organize the employment of the migrant workers abroad.
At the same time, all the competencies regarding the inflow of the foreign citizens to the Republic of Moldova, remittance and prolongation of visas, offering a statute for repatriates and immigrants, offering invitations and other issues regarding immigration will be overtaken by MIA.
At the same meeting, the Government decided to reorganize the Agency for Regional Development (ARD) in the Agency for Construction and Territorial Development and to give the local public administration competencies to the Ministry of Local Public Administration (MLPA).
“The functional researches of ARD proved that the Agency administrated inefficiently the area of local autonomy that is the reason why these competencies must be given to a central specialty body”, state the authors of the decision.
According to them, creating MLPA will contribute to solving the problems of the area and to an efficient collaboration between the central public administrations and also ensuring a coherent dialogue with the Council of Europe.
