The Kremlin accuses Moldova of wanting to integrate into Romania in order to join NATO

Moscow accuses the authorities in Chisinau of wanting to integrate the Republic of Moldova into Romania in order to join NATO. Such assertions were made by the spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharova, IPN reports.

"The current Moldovan authorities do not even consider Moldova a sovereign state. They only want to integrate it into Romania, and through Romania, into NATO. It's like they're just trying to attach it," said Maria Zakharova.

According to Zakharova, the current administration of Moldova intends to use the energy crisis to produce a forced solution to the Transnistrian issue.

"They unequivocally place the responsibility for stopping gas supplies on Russia's shoulders," added the spokeswoman.

On Monday, President Maia Sandu accused the Kremlin of using energy blackmail in an attempt to destabilize the situation, influence the 2025 parliamentary elections and undermine Moldova's European path.
