The expertise in the Leova-Bumbăta case will be finalized in 2-3 months, CNEJ

The National Center for Legal Expertise estimates that the expertise in the Leova-Bumbata case will be completed within 2-3 months after the resolution of the procedural issues related to the appointment of the foreign expert, IPN reports.

"The expertise has already been in the works since October 2024. The start of the work was postponed due to requests for recusal of the forensic experts," a post by the Center reads.

The institution informs that as a result of the steps taken, a specialist from Ukraine was also identified and the case managers of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office were informed about the matter.

The head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, Veronica Dragalin, told a press conference today that the Leova-Bumbăta case continues to be at the stage of criminal prosecution. Prosecutors are awaiting the report of the National Center for Forensic Expertise, which reportedly informed the PA that an expertise could be made no earlier than 2028.

"The information circulated about the deadline for the completion of the expertise is not up to date and does not reflect the reality," commented the National Center of Forensic Expertise.

The Leova-Bumbata bridge project has been criticized for its high costs. Initially the project was estimated at 250 million lei. Subsequently, the costs increased by 30 million lei.
