“The best chef” competition has proven that Moldovan chefs are tremendously talented
Culinary Art association from Republic of Moldova has organized a Professional contest last week, entitled “The best chef”. The contest was held at the “Aeroport Catering” institution, an organization specialized with the preparation and serving of the food on board the planes.
The contest was meant to show the achievements, talent and craftsmanship in the culinary art of the chefs and cooks, to prove the professionalism in using new technologies, to show a qualified service system and to aid to the rebirth and the implementation of the national cooking traditions.
For the first time the competitors were compared with the criteria from the World Association of Cooks Society (WACS). At the evaluation part, the jury has taken into consideration the looks of the items, the composition, standards accordance and preparation time, as well as presentational skills. Every contestant has prepared three kinds of dishes: cold snacks, banquet dishes and deserts.The winners of the contest, 7 overall, have received medals, and the participants – honorific diplomas of participation.
The evaluation committee has stressed put the exposition of Galina Pălitu, with the name of “Recipes from my grandmother”, in which the oldest traditional Moldovan dishes were presented. The jury also granted the gold medal to Elena Cretu, author of the “Moldova” cake who proved to have a vivid imagination and impressive skills. Also, the baker Liuba Petcu has organized a personal exposition of festive bred.
The president of the Association of Culinary Art, Mr. Simion Boran, has declared for Info-Prim Neo that he is highly appreciative of the support of „Aeroport Catering”, an organization that cares about the professionalism of the chefs of the guest of the country. Therefore, the first dishes a tourist tries in our planes also offer the first contact with out culture and traditions, the source stated.
