The joint stock company “Termocom” was liquidated by a court decision on March 18. The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), which owns a majority holding in this company, wasn’t informed about it, councilor Oleg Cernei told the journalists, saying this is real raider attack, IPN reports.
Oleg Cernei said that in the morning of March 20, Deputy Minister of Economy Tudor Copaci went to “Termocom” to inform the administration that the CMC no longer controls the company and that the managers were discharged.
“The merger between “Termocom”, CET 1 and CET 2 was launched. The CMC adopted this plan after studies showed that only the merger is a viable solution. If the three companies had merged, the CMC would have held a part of control. But now it has no leverage. The mayor general will be unable to order opening and closing the heating season,” stated the councilor.
Oleg Cernei believes the company was liquidated because they want to sell its property. At the end of this February, CET-2 asked blocking the bank accounts of “Termocom” so as to collect a debt of about 123 million lei. Afterward, the Ministry of Economy explained the move followed the blocking by “Moldovagaz” of the accounts of CET-2 over debts last November.
““Termocom” has the largest debt to “Moldovagaz”, while “Moldovagaz” has debts to Russia’s “Gazprom”. It now means that the Russian company can take over the shares of “Termocom” in exchange for debts,” said the councilor.
Oleg Cernei added that the residents of Chisinau municipality now do not know who they pay the bills to. The contracts for the provision of services were signed between “Termocom” and the dwellers. Now that the company was liquidated, the contracts are not valid.
The authorities initiated the reorganization of the thermoelectric system of Chisinau with a view to attracting investments and clearing the debt of 2.5 billion lei accumulated by Termocom.
