The public broadcasting company TeleRadio-Moldova (TRM) could inaugurate two public television channels: Moldova-2 and TV Moldova International. The Board of Observers of TRM gave green light to a decision of the TRM Management Board on inauguration of the two channels on Friday, March 17. TRM manager Ilie Telescu said that the editorial team of TV Moldova International was already created and the company is negotiating with a Turkish firm regarding a satellite for broadcasting. According to Telescu, the TV channel will be received from Iceland to Vladivostok and to Israel in the south. TRM will broadcast a 3-hour programme at the beginning. As regards the TV channel M2, Telescu said that the company has negotiated with the government „and a financing may appear in this regard.” He sought the agreement of the Board of Observers for creation of a working group to start implementing this intention project by stages. Victor Osipov, member of the Board of Observers, asked whether it would not be better to focus on coverage of the air time of the TV channels M-1, production of quality programmes, training of qualified staffs, etc., instead of some „nebulous” programmes, under the present conditions of financial crisis. The TRM manager answered that all these actions must be taken in parallel, because the experience is harvested this way. Also on Friday, the Board of Observers gave green light to a decision of the Management Board of TRM to inaugurate channels of TRM correspondents in Brussels, Bucharest and Moscow, but with the condition to evaluate possibilities to create such stations in other capitals as well.
