The public television in Gagauzia is biased in favor of the Communists Party, said the institution's director Vitalie Gaidarji, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Vitalie Gaidarji asserts the TV channel's editorial policy is fully controlled by the president of the Regional Public Broadcaster “Teleradio-Gagauzia” Ecaterina Jekova, who favors the PCRM. The director said that this May he was banned from appearing on the channel. According to him, in the election campaign of 2009 Ecaterina Jekova also intervened and told him not to put inconvenient questions to the Communist candidates during electoral debates programs. Vitalie Gaidarji also said that employees of “Teleradio-Gagauzia”recently had a meeting with the head of Omega news agency Alexandr Petkov, but the report made by him about this event was not aired. Vitalie Gaidarji said that in 2007 he was dismissed because he did not obey Ecaterina Jekova, but was reinstated in his post in 11 months, under a court decision. He stated the court ordered that he be paid 39,000 lei in salary for forced leave. This money was paid to him from the budget of “Teleradio-Gagauzia” not by the one who dismissed him illegally, as Gaidarji considers.
