Teenager dies while stealing electric equipment
A teenager, aged 16 from Codru town, within
Chisinau municipality, was electrocuted while attempting to steal non-ferrous metal from an electric utility.
According to a press release of the Union Fenosa Group, the tragedy happened on September 7. According to the investigations, the minor tried to dissemble a part of electric equipment, climbing up a 10kV installation. The teenager felt over the 10kV bars, producing a short circuit, as a result of which his clothes took fire.
Another adolescent was on the venue. He ran home and announced his mother and a doctor from the Emergency Service. A team of rescuers went to the venue where the victim was found dead. His friend confessed that they intended to steal non-ferrous metals.
According to the same source, another accident happened under similar circumstances in the evening of September 8, at the RED South electric installations. A young man, aged 19, inhabitant of Vulcanesti town, was hospitalized with serious burns produced by electric devices. The investigation found out that this accident happened while the victim was attempting to steal conductors of electricity from a pillar. The victim is unemployed and has criminal record, being involved in several cases of theft.
