Tax revenues to State Budget up 37.3%

In January-March 2007, tax revenues to Moldova’s state budget amounted to 4.1 billion lei in January-April 2007, up by 37.3 percent against the same period last year, data from the Ministry of Economy and Trade show. The biggest part of the national public budget’s revenues – 82.7% results from tax revenues of 4.1 bln lei, of which 46.6% are direct taxes, and 53.4% – indirect taxes. At the same time, 4.5 bln were expended from the state budget, or 33.2% more than in the first three months of 2006. 64.9% were used for implementing social programmes (education, health protection, social assistance, culture, art, sport); for national economy – 14.4%; defence, maintenance of public order and national security – 8.9%; state general services – 4.7%. On the whole, the national public budget accumulated a budget surplus of 385.1 mln lei, compared to the excess of 180.2 mln lei registered in the first quarter last year.
