A tax evasion scheme amounting to approximately 3.5 million lei was uncovered at a transport company in Chișinău. The company is accused of failing to pay taxes by artificially inflating expenses and underreporting revenues for the year 2023, IPN reports.

According to information provided by the State Tax Service (SFS) and the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), this scheme caused significant losses to the state budget.

Searches conducted at the company’s premises led to the seizure of accounting records, unofficial documents, computers containing relevant information, contracts, an illegally possessed firearm, and cash. All these will serve as evidence in the ongoing criminal investigation.

The authorities continue to investigate to fully assess the scale of the tax evasion and identify those responsible. According to the law, the individuals involved are presumed innocent until a final court ruling is issued.
