A 60-year-old woman was given a suspended sentence in a voter corruption case. She, together with other unidentified persons, tried to make electors vote in last autumn's elections according to the position promoted by representatives of the electoral bloc "Victoria – Pobeda", of which she was a member, IPN reports.
The Soroca district prosecutor's office said that the woman identified a number of people from whom she collected personal data. She also installed the PSB (Promsvyazbank) application on their electronic devices, convincing them to act accordingly to the position promoted by the bloc's representatives, in exchange for the promised money.
Subsequently, the people who directed the illegal actions transferred 2,500 Russian rubles to a man's account so that in the first round of the presidential election he could vote for the candidate promoted by the bloc. The candidate’s name was to be announced the day before the election.
The defendant also tried to make a number of people, for money, to choose the option promoted by the bloc "Victoria" in the referendum, and to put the stamp next to the word "NO".
According to the Prosecutor's Office, the plan was not carried out because the voters were informed about the legal consequences of such actions. They gave up using that application, and the transferred money was not collected.
Thus, by the sentence of the Soroca Court, the 60-year-old woman was sentenced to one year in prison, with the conditional suspension of its execution for a probationary period of two years.
