Switzerland offers additional assistance to Moldova

Switzerland has increased the budget for programs and projects carried out in Moldova. This was announced by Guido Beltrani, director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Chisinau, during a meeting with Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

Guido Beltrani said that part of the additional funds will be used to support the state budget through a World Bank trust fund, while another part will be used to finance projects in areas that include health care, promoting economic growth and improving public services and living conditions in different parts of Moldova.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean noted that thanks to the joint Moldovan-Swiss projects, the Government will be able to support the communities of Moldova. “We emphasize increasing productivity, economic development, attracting investment and supporting local authorities. It is important that citizens and the business community throughout the country benefit from the best conditions for development”, said the prime minister.

The projects supported by Switzerland aim to achieve results in a number of areas. In the health care sector, the results should bring better preparation for treating stroke patients. Another objective is to improve energy efficiency of public and private buildings in a number of municipalities, and also to improve the resilience of small farmers to the deterioration of production conditions. Switzerland will also support the socio-economic integration of Ukrainian refugees into the Moldovan labor market.

The projects supported by Switzerland in Moldova aim at systemic changes and reforms, which benefit the entire population, in particular the more vulnerable and marginalized groups.
