Sweden to open diplomatic representative office in Moldova
Sweden will set up a diplomatic representative office in Moldova at the level of charge d’affaires ad interim following a decision made by the Swedish Government. It is planned that the office will start work in March this year, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communiqué from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova, the authorities in Sweden will delegate a high-ranking diplomat that will work in Chisinau. Later, the status of the representative office will changed and it will become the place of the ambassador with permanent residence in Moldova.
The Swedish authorities stressed that the decision to open a diplomatic representative office in Moldova is designed to support Moldova in its European integration efforts given that Sweden will take over the Presidency of the European Union in the second half of 2009.
