Sweden strengthens defense capabilities of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia

The Swedish government will provide support worth SEK 50 million, equivalent to about €€5 million, to Ukraine. Also, by about €445,000 will be allocated to Moldova and Georgia. The support is provided through various NATO funds and will be used for mine clearance, crisis management, cybersecurity and training, the Embassy of Sweden in Chisinau has said, being quoted by IPN.

The NATO Defense Capacity Building Trust Fund for Moldova will receive SEK 5 million. The money will be used to purchase equipment, to stage training and support reforms.

The Global Assistance Package Fund for Ukraine will receive SEK 50 million to be used for projects that have already been decided but do not have funding, for example through the purchase of defense equipment, fuel, medical equipment, mine clearance and other military training equipment.

Another SEK 5 million will be donated to Georgia as part of the substantial NATO-Georgia package. The money will be directed towards projects in such areas as crisis management, cybersecurity, information sharing, secure communication channels and engineering skills.
