Three suspects in the case of a man kidnapped from the left bank of the Dniester, on a street in Chisinau, will remain in preventive detention. The decision was pronounced by the Chisinau Court of Appeal, which rejected the lawyers' appeal contesting the detention measure, IPN reports.
The three individuals were placed in preventive detention for 30 days on February 9, following a ruling by the investigating judge of the Chisinau Court.
The criminal investigation authorities were notified on the morning of February 6. A criminal investigation for the crime of kidnapping was initiated.
"On the same day, the vehicle involved was intercepted at the Rezina Internal Customs Post, and the three suspects were detained", stated Violina Moraru, communication officer at the General Prosecutor's Office, for IPN.
The man kidnapped by Transnistrian militia is suspected of committing a robbery in the Transnistrian region.
Promo-LEX condemned the case, noting that such actions constitute serious violations of fundamental human rights. The association believes that this situation was also made possible by the lack of a firm response and a prompt investigation of similar previous incidents.
