Dacia Chisinau, one of the favorites of the competition, was eliminated by Veris Chisinau. The leader of Division A beat Dacia 1-0 owing to the goal scored by Maxim Hovanschi in the third minute of the match, IPN reports.
In the quarterfinals on May 7 or 8, Veris will play Milsami Orhei, which defeated Iskra-Stal Rybnitsa 1-0 after Brazilian player Guilherme De Paula scored the only goal of the game.
In the other matches of the quarterfinals, Sheriff Tiraspol will meet Nistru Otaci, while FC Tiraspol – Zimbru Chisinau.
The last time that a representative of the second echelon of the Moldovan football played in the Cup’s semifinals was in the 1995-1996 season. Then, Locomotiva Basarabeasca was eliminated by Constructorul Chisinau.
