The Supreme Council of Magistrates on April 8 accepted the resignations tendered by 15 judges. Only the resignation of Judge Vasile Selevestru from Orhei was rejected because a number of disciplinary proceedings were brought against him, head of the Council’s staff Ioana Chironet has told IPN.
The accepted resignations were offered by the following judges: Nicolae Chirtoaga, Mihail Dolghieri, and Iurii Guzun (Briceni), Mihai Gavrilita (Straseni), Ion Raropu (Calarasi), Ion Dandara (Sangerei), Vasile Macrinici and Tamara Anghel (Rezina); four judges of Appeals Courts - Gheorghe Ulianovschi and Elena Lazareva (Comrat), Tamara Pelin (Chisinau) and Valeriu Harmaniuc (Balti), and three judges of the Supreme Court of Justice - Ion Arhiliuc, Ion Vilcov, and Constantin Gurschi.
President Nicolae Timofti is now to also accept the resignations. In the case of the Supreme Court of Justice judges, the resignations must be agreed by Parliament too.
