Support from Brussels for Iurie Ciocan in Romanian parliamentary elections

The Vice-President of the European Parliament Victor Negrescu launched a strong message of support for Iurie Ciocan, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) in the parliamentary elections of Romania, IPN reports.

In a statement made in Brussels, Victor Negrescu stressed the importance of having a representative from the Republic of Moldova in the Romanian Parliament: "We need a representative in the Romanian Parliament who will fight for the interests of the Romanians from the Republic of Moldova." Negrescu added that Iurie Ciocan is "concerned that the people here will have a better time" and that the PSD has been a constant supporter of the European path of the Republic of Moldova.

"The Social Democratic Party strongly supported the European path of the Republic of Moldova because we believe in this country and in its development. With the PSD in government in Romania and with Marcel Ciolacu as Prime Minister, we sought to support the development of the Republic of Moldova. This support was also possible thanks to a strong advocate in the person of Iurie Ciocan, who knows how important it is to provide additional support for its development," said Negrescu.

The Vice-President of the European Parliament stressed that the PSD wants the Romanians from the Republic of Moldova to have solid representation in the Romanian Parliament: "Iurie Ciocan is our candidate for this position, and we hope that all those who believe in the Republic of Moldova and in stronger relations between Bucharest and Chisinau will support him."

Iurie Ciocan runs in the December 1 parliamentary elections in constituency No. 43, which includes the Romanians of the diaspora and from the Republic of Moldova. He is under No.4 on the ballot.
