Students awarded $5,000 for rapid disease diagnosis project

Moglan Nikita and Malancea Daniela, 12th graders at "Iulia Hașdeu" Theoretical High School in Chisinau, won the first place "Global Winner Award" in the "Artificial Intelligence" category, IPN reports.

Guided by the computer science teacher and helped by colleagues from the "Robotics Club", the two teenagers created a project for the rapid diagnosis of a disease. For this invention, the high school students got a prize of $5,000.

The young people said that to turn the idea into a concept and to develop the project, the team worked for half a year because they needed thorough documentation in the field of medicine and collected information from a number of experts from both banks of the Prut.

As many as 106 artificial intelligence projects from all over the world were presented at this year's edition of the international competition "Al Global Impact Festival", which took place during October 10-25.

The Chisinau City Hall congratulated the young winners and sent them a message of appreciation, support and encouragement.
