Stronger national currency “a natural process”, NBM official says
The upward trend of the Moldovan leu against the US dollar and euro recorded this year is a natural process, says the director of the Department of Monetary Policy and Research of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), Andrei Rotaru.
According to the cited source, the policy of the central bank is focused on a free floating of the national currency against the other currencies.
The expert labels the current exchange rate of the Moldovan leu as satisfactory, adding that it is calculated by the bank in order to prevent speculations.
Since the start of the year, the leu grew stronger by 6.4 percent against the dollar and by 3 percent against the euro.
