Moldovan producers of honey and strawberries have participated on Sunday, 18th of June, at the charity market “Honey and strawberries holiday”, organized for the first time in Chisinau. Producers from different parts of the country have gathered in front of the UNIC market shop in Chisinau, where they set up improvised counters to sell strawberries, honey and beech. The goal for this event was to collect sufficient funds for the “Angelus” Hospice, where patients are treated of cancer, and whose aim is to promote the use of strawberries and honey in health service. Valeriu Isac, doctor at „Angelus Moldova” has told Info-Prim Neo that from every sold kg of products, 2 lei will be donated to the incurable patients. “We would like our patients to live decently their last days”, said Isac, comparing the holiday of honey and strawberries to the known holiday of beer and wine. Andrei Zagareanu, the president of the Moldovan Apiculture Association „Apis Mellifera”, said at the beginning of the event that during some years, on 19th of June the holiday of honey was organized. However, from now on, he hopes that the holiday of strawberries and honey will become a tradition for Chisinau. The event was organized by the “Demetra” Association, together with the Moldovan Apiculture Association „Apis Mellifera” and the Medico-Social Philanthropic Foundation “Angelus Moldova”.
