Stepaniuc insists National Liberals should be outlawed

The National Liberal Party must be outlawed, inasmuch as it openly calls for the abolition of Moldova's sovereignty and independence through unification with Romania, which contradicts the Moldovan Constitution, stated independent candidate Victor Stepaniuc at a news conference on Tuesday. Victor Stepaniuc said he would notify the Constitutional Court, acting President Mihai Ghimpu, the Ministry of Justice and the Prosecutor General's Office requesting them to take urgent measures to counter the “anti-national activities” of the NLP. Stepaniuc says that the PNL and its leader, Vitalia Pavlicenco, are doing “everything to destroy the Republic of Moldova” as a state. “Mrs Pavlicenco and her team promote ideas which are forbidden in many countries. The Moldovan Constitution plainly says that the parties which advocate against the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity (of Moldova) are anti-constitutional. So obviously the Constitutional Court must pronounce a clear verdict in this case. And if the party is not constitutional, it must not be allowed to stand for the parliament”, argued Victor Stepaniuc. “I'm calling on the political forces and the electoral contenders to take a civic attitude against the escalation of the pan-Romanian unionist propaganda and actions in the Moldovan political life, which can harm our country's sovereignty and independence, strain the inter-ethnic relations and affect the settlement of the Transnistrian issue, fueling separatist forces east of the Nistru”, stated Victor Stepaniuc. A former Communist MP, Victor Stepaniuc is now running unaffiliated for an MP seat in the next Parliament.
