State Flag Day celebrated in Moldova for second time

The State Flag Day is marked in Moldova on April 27. The day was nominated in April 2010 by Parliament by making amendments to the Decision on Holidays, Commemorative Days and Nonworking Days in Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. Under the legislative initiative, the State Flag Day is a public holiday, not yet a nonworking day. On this day, officials and ordinary people will lay flowers at the monument to Stephan the Great in central Chisinau, which will be surrounded by tricolor ribbons. The Ministry of Defense will hold a ceremony dedicated to the Flag Day. The national guard of honor will line up, while the national flag will be blessed by a group of priests and raised on the mast while the national anthem will be played. The tricolor was designated as state flag by a law adopted on April 27, 1990. It represents a symbol of Moldova's independence and sovereignty.
