Kicking off preparations to launch its electronic payment service StarWallet, the ICT company StarNet on Thursday signed a partnership agreement with the multinational company Coinstar for the technical implementation of this service, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The service is expected to be launched in the first half of 2012. “This is a new and revolutionary solution on the Moldovan market because it offers a variety of payment modes, with a large array of services that can be paid for and a multitude of partnerships that can be created thanks to this system”, Alexei Munteanum, StarNet online marketing manager, told a news conference today.
StarWallet is a project based on the best European experience in the field of electronic payments. The service will radically change the traditional payment forms and will provide new opportunities to make payments as well as to save money, said Alexei Munteanu.
The system will allow transactions and payments via any mobile device connected to the Internet. Users will be able to make payments in a jiffy, from anywhere and at any time, without needing additional connections such as bank terminals. “Anyone interested will be able to open a StarWallet account, transfer money to it and pay for purchases at the shop, utility bills, restaurant bills or for any other needs. The system also allows the possibility to receive payments on the StarWallet account for the provided services.
Alexei Munteanu revealed that the service will also allow users to save money by enjoying discounts.
Coinstar will develop the StarWallet service for StarNet through Qsystems, a company which is part of the multinational group Coinstar. Qsystems manager Andrey Aydov noted that the Moldovan authorities made numerous steps to adopt European and international standards for electronic payments. He further stated that StarWallet will bring freedom and flexibility in making payments and will help to promote electronic payments in Moldova.
