Boris Volosatyi, principal of the Chisinau Lyceum “Gheorghe Asachi”, said the stake of the European Parliament elections for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova is great because Romania was and remains the country’s main advocate in all the international organizations, mainly the European ones. The issue was developed in a program on Vocea Basarabiei TV channel, IPN reports.

“Romania’s position in this European forum is important for us,” stated Boris Volosatyi.

He called on the people to support the healthy national patriotic Romanian forces that could generally diminish Euroscepticism. “The dismemberment of the EU can be only in the interest of Russia or of other forces from outside that see a danger in the unity of the European countries and in the upward economic trend in the EU to these transitional campaigns that would like to control not only Europe, but the whole world,” noted the principal.

Victor Alexeev, president of the PSD Organization in Moldova, said it is important who will be elected to represent Romania in the European Parliament and how these will represents Moldova’s interests in the EP. Earlier, there were cases when the MEPs voted against their own country.

Victor Alexeev noted the Romanians in Moldova who more or less know the political life in Romania and have a civic position primarily vote at the EP elections. “We would like the citizens who have Romanian nationality to be more active and vote in a large number as this is purely brotherly involvement,” he stated.

According to him, Moldova is now not prepared to cover by itself the road to the EU and it will be very hard for it without Romania’s support.

The elections to the European Parliament will take place this Sunday, May 26. A number of 36 polling stations for the Moldovans with Romanian nationality to cast their ballots will be established in Moldova.
