Șor Party to go to CC after Ilan Șor remained without seat of MP

The Șor Party announced that it will go to the Constitutional Court after Parliament adopted a decision by which the status of MP of Ilan Șor is annulled, IPN reports.

The party said the given Parliament decision is an unprecedented abuse. “Without waiting for an irrevocable decision from all the courts of law, without obeying the case law of the ECHR and the Constitutional Court, the government followed the path of abuse and defiance of the Fundamental Law,” says a press release issued by the Șor Party. It noted that such a move is against the principle of a representative mandate and defies the people’s choice and this case will be a test for the observance of the rule of law in the Republic of Moldova.

The leader of the Șor Party Ilan Șor remained without the seat of MP after Parliament took note of the Chisinau Appeals Court’s decision by which the politician was sentenced to 15 years in jail. By its definitive decision of April 13, the Chisinau Appeals Court sentenced Ilan Șor to 15 years behind bars for swindle and money laundering in the bank fraud case and banned him from holding posts in the banking sector for a period of five years and ordered to levy a sum of 5.2 billion lei on the politician.
