Șor Political Party presented on Wednesday, September 11, its candidate for the position of general mayor of Chisinau municipality. It is Valeri Klimenko, honorary president of the party. The announcement was made at a press conference, through a video address of the party leader, Ilan Șor, reports IPN.
Ilan Șor said that at present the city is full of dirt, disorder and corruption, and the only solution is to start the renovation of the municipality from scratch. According to him, Valeri Klimenko "is a person who keeps his word, who has demonstrated his personal qualities and will be able to carry out the necessary reforms". "With the support of the Șor Party team, he will be able to build a new capital city, together we will be able to create a city where every citizen will be proud to live in," said Ilan Șor.
Valeri Klimenko said he would transform Chisinau based on the model of Orhei. “In Orhei, our team has succeeded in carrying out social, humanitarian, infrastructural projects that allow us to say that there are no cities like Orhei in terms of planning and cleanliness. If we were to compare Chisinau to Orhei, it would come out to the detriment of the capital,” he said.
Valeriy Klimenko has also run for the capital city hall in the previous local elections, representing "Ravnopravie" Movement, which was renamed Sor Party in October 2016. In the elections of June 2011 Valeri Klimenko accumulated 0.22% of the votes, and in the 2015 elections - 0.09%.
At the new local elections, in 2018, the Șor Party appointed Reghina Apostolova for the position of mayor of the capital. A few days before the elections she was excluded from the race on the grounds of external funding of the election campaign.
