Fifteen political parties didn’t respond to the Central Election Commission’s request to present updated information about the leader of the party, the treasurer and the bank account to which allocations from the state budget can be transferred. The parties that are entitled to state budget allocations, but didn’t present updated information will not be able to receive the money, IPN reports.
In a press release, the Commission noted that the information was necessary for confirming the treasurers of parties, for ensuring the accuracy of the transfer of allocations from the state budget and for making the parties more responsible. Besides information about the party leader, the parties were to provide the contact data of the party (legal address, contact address of the office/building, website, telephone).
The information was to be presented until January 20, 2023. The deadline was later extended until February 7.
The state budget allocations intended for political parties in 2023 total 49.98 million lei, by about 7 million lei more than in 2022. The money that is not distributed to parties remains for being used the next years.
