Servicemen of the National Army had a rehearsal for the National Flag Day ceremony in the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau on April 26. They practiced how to raise the tricolor on a new mast set up in front of the Government Building, Info-Prim Neo reports. The rehearsal started with a choreographic performance involving students. Then, there were hoisted the tricolor and other historical flags of Moldova, including the battle flag of Stephan the Great. The presidential orchestra played the state anthem and several solemn songs. His Holiness Vladimir, the Metropolitan Bishop of Chisinau and all Moldova, will hold a service to bless the state flag. The National Flag ceremony will start at 10am and will last for an hour. The Great National Assembly Square will be closed for traffic in the period. The National Flag Day is marked on April 27. The holiday was instituted by Parliament on April 23, 2010. The tricolor was designated officially as the state flag on April 27, 1990.
