The Socialist MPs will request the Constitutional Court to establish the constitutionality of the PAS’ amendment by which the monthly pays of the constitutional judges was almost doubled to 82,000 lei, IPN reports.
According to a press release of the Party of Socialists, MP Petru Burduja said the amendment was passed in the absence of the Government’s appraisal that is mandatory for initiatives that imply budget costs. Article 131, point 4 of the Constitution, which stipulates this obligation, was violated.
In this connection, Grigore Novac announced that the Socialist MPs during the next few days will dispute the amendment in the Constitutional Court and will see how the judges act – will defend the Constitution or the own salaries.
Grigore Novac said the amendment signed by Olesea Stamate, Igor Grosu and Veronica Roșca is a kind of legalized bribe and payment to the CC judges who in time showed their loyalty to the current regime, not yet to the Constitution.
In a TV program, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu explained that the move is aimed at strengthening the Constitutional Court on which the developments in the country at a particular moment depend a lot.
