A group of Socialist lawmakers asked the Constitutional Court to check the legality of the law that repealed vendor patents.
Vlad Batrîncea, leader of the Socialist parliamentary group, says the measure concerns “tens of thousands of people who earned their bread thanks to a vendor patent”.
“PAS representatives, when they were in opposition, supported the extension of patents until 2030 and even tabled a legislative proposal in this regard. Despite this, once they came to power, Maia Sandu and PAS banned patent-based activity, leaving people on their own to identify survival solutions amid the crises we are facing today”, declared Batrîncea.
As of December 31, 2022, 4,800 holders of vendor patents were registered with the State Fiscal Service. From July 1, 2023, activity based on such patents is no longer possible. According to the authorities, more than 3,500 have transitioned to self-employment. The rest have switched to limited liability companies or individual enterprises. 3,445 people applied for compensation for transition expenses, of whom over 3,000 have already received the money.
