Several social workers in some districts of the country have not received their salaries for December 2023. Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu announced about this today.
Asked by journalists at a press conference about the reasons and how this situation has come about, Alexei Buzu said that the ministry he represents does not owe any debts in relation to salaries, and the culprit would be the district council of these entities, which does not want to assume its obligations to employees.
"The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection is not in arrears with the salaries of colleagues in the social welfare system. There are some districts where the District Councils have not fully paid salaries for December 2023. We are actively communicating with these entities to pay and do everything they need to do in relation to my colleagues. It's just a few districts, that's all", the minister said.
However, Alexei Buzu did not specify which districts.
Asked by IPN, the minister's advisor Daniela Herta said that in 2024, the government allocated additional financial means twice to the districts with arrears. "They had enough time and resources to pay all debts to employees. We hope that by the beginning of 2025 we will be able to reach a common denominator", the minister's adviser said.
