Social Insurance Budget had revenues of 38.6 billion lei in 2023

Last year, revenues totaling 38.6 billion lei were accumulated in the State Social Insurance Budget, or 99.3% of the annual plan. According to a preliminary report, 2023 ended with revenues exceeding expenses by 79.8 million lei.

According to the National Social Insurance Company (CNAS), mandatory state social insurance contributions amounted to 21.5 billion lei, 100.1% of the target, and 15.9% more than in the previous year.

Other revenues represented 568.6 million lei. The biggest part, 555.3 million lei, was the single tax collected from the residents of the IT parks, which increased by 31.9%.

Transfers from the State Budget represented 16.5 billion lei. Of this, 11.1 billion lei was allocated to the payment of social assistance benefits and other payments, which according to the legislation are financed from the State Budget, these being 733.8 million lei (7.1%) higher in relation to with the same period of the previous year. Another 5.4 billion lei was allocated to cover the deficit of revenues.

Total expenses represented 38.52 billion lei, or 99.1% of the target.

As of January 1, CNAS had an account balance of 80 million lei.
