Smaller European assistance intended for Moldova is a bad grade to Government, MP

MP of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” Igor Munteanu said the Republic of Moldova could have obtained much more money from the European Union if the current Government had sought help from the EU faster and had supplied the European authorities with more information about the serious problems faced by Moldova in its sanitary and clinical sectors. The fact that Moldova received from the EU an amount that is two times lower than those for Ukraine and Georgia and is smaller than the assistance offered to Armenia shows that a bad grade was given to the Government led by Ion Chicu, IPN reports.

Igor Munteanu said the EU provided a coordinated response to the member states and associated states. The EU mobilized €47 million for strengthening the public health sectors in the community area and for alleviating the socioeconomic impact of the crisis. It mobilized funds for coordinating the effort made by the national governments of the member states to contain the pandemic and keep the virus under strict control. The EU offered €87 million to Moldova for ensuring for its citizens more and higher quality assistance, medical equipment and supplies, support for doctors.

According to the MP, the Moldovan citizens appreciate a lot the support provided by the EU and have confidence in the European idea. However, President Igor Dodon and his acolytes should publicly deny the recently disseminated lie that only China and Russia help Moldova. The statements made by Ion Chicu are not enough and are twofaced.

Igor Munteanu also said that Premier Chicu should also refute the accusations made against the opposition as the Constitutional Court’s decision to suspend the effects of the law for which the Government assumed responsibility is a result of the violated procedures. “Regrettably, without waiting for a final judgment of the Court, Premier Chicu hurried to solve a crisis situation, shifting the responsibility onto the National Extraordinary Commission for Public Health, despite the fact that this is only a coordinating body subordinate to the Government and does not have legal power and competence. Everything will have consequences,” noted the MP.
