Slusari comments on expert opinion ordered in $1B bank fraud case

The lack of progress in delivering the court-ordered expert assessment on the exact amount of the non-performing loans issued since 2009 is the main obstacle to examining the criminal cases related to the 2014 bank fraud. The statement belongs to Alexandru Slusari, the chairman of the Parliamentary Commission on Bank Fraud Investigation, quoted by IPN.

“This is incredible. This expert opinion was ordered on June 10, 2015 and has been lasting four years already. Four years, dear citizens!,” Alexandru Slusari says in a Facebook post.

The deputy says that "he was greatly perplexed by Prosecutor Office’s response, still signed by Harunjen, regarding the results of the bank fraud investigation".

"Ridiculous and embarrassing. If you recall, under the cover of the expert examination Ilan Șor case has been long hidden at the Cahul Court of Appeal. It was an important element of sabotaging the investigation process of banking system devaluation. During that four-year period, the thieves wiped their traces and spent the billions stolen from us. But I am sure their payback is as close as never before,” the chairman of the Committee says.
