Six organizations launch a campaign on promoting child adoption
The campaign on promoting national child adoption within the TACIS project “Promoting new services for facilitating the reintegration process of the institutionalized children of the Republic of Moldova” united the efforts of 6 state institutions and NGOs dealing with the process of children integration into families. The campaign, financed by the European Union was launched today, July 6 at a press conference.
According to the authors of the idea, the head of the organization Amici dei Bambini Moldova, Alexandru Tusca, the main objective of the project is promoting family reintegration of abandoned children, who are fostered by the institutions of residential type of the Republic of Moldova, and the promoting campaign aims at drawing the attention of the state and local administration, as well as communities’ to the necessity of adopting children in need.
The president of the national committee for children adoptions, Eugenia Goncera states that children’s adoption is one of the most important methods of children’s protection, being more adequate than boarding schools or children placement centers, where children do not feel comfortable. According to the quoted source, changing the psychology of parents, children and community about adoption is needed.
Mariana Ianachevici, representative of the organization “Salvati Copii”, states that a child who graduated a boarding schools, can not integrate proper in the society, and does not know how to administrate his/her finances. “We will try within the campaign to prove that each child must feel like a son or daughter and that all couples willing to adopt children are precious resources for institutionalized children”, she said.
Within the promotion campaign of the program, a training mission will be performed by the municipal Department for promoting children rights. It will organize before and after adoption courses, within which the couples willing to adopt children will be informed about the legislative framework related to this subject, the problems that might appear after the adoption, the difficult situations, the risks and the education methods.
The campaign will be promoted by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, the National Committee for Adoption, the Municipal Department for children’s rights protection, “Salvati Copii”, The National Association of Adoptive Parents and Amici del Bambini, Moldova.
According to the statistics, in 2005, in the Republic of Moldova 280 adoptions of institutionalized children were registered, and in the first half of 2006, another 94 children found a family.
