The central authorities will examine the facilities used to store grain crops and combined fodder. A total of 127 silos managed by 41 business entities will be inspected, IPN reports.
Inspections will be conducted by joint groups consisting of employees of the Agency for Technical Supervision and the Inspectorate for Environmental Protection. Representatives of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations will be involved if need be. The involved institutions will weekly report the taken actions and the inspection results, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry said in a press release.
The inspection of silos was ordered following the fires that occurred at the Giurgiulești International Free Port. The most recent fire in a sunflower groats silo that collapsed on January 20 was put out in four days. That fire was preceded by a similar fire on January 16. Several silos located on the territory of the port caught fire last year too.
