IPN News Agency announces that it approved the initiative of the creation team of the SIC! project to separate itself from the Agency’s team after being a subdivision of IPN over the past few years. This way, the articles published on the platform sic.md as from the start of this month do not form part of the media products signed IPN. In the same connection, IPN Agency informs that the sic.md domain is transferred under another subordination, with the registration of the respective changes in the Register of the State-Run Enterprise Molddata, also from the start of February 2019.

IPN News Agency specifies that it accepted with understanding the separation decision taken by the project’s creation team given the need for greater freedom of expression after IPN was earlier subject to repeated pressure by representatives of circles close to the administration of the ruling party owing to this project and witnessed pressure exerted on other projects implemented by it with support from the development partners of the Republic of Moldova. 

According to the disclaimer that accompanies the platform sic.md, SIC! is a project created with the assistance of Soros Foundation Moldova and the Black Sea Trust. The goal of the sic! project is to identify lies, inaccuracies and manipulation in the political statements with an impact and to inform the people about them in a simple and accessible way. Ideally, the project’s effort will encourage the people to choose credible sources of news, and opinion shapers to refrain from manipulation.
