The short film “Angel Back”, made in the U.S. by Moldovan journalist and film director Natalia Ghilascu, was nominated for the Best Short Film at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Awards, IPN reports.

Natalia Ghilascu said the film was inspired by the life of a Jewish woman who lost her boyfriend in an accident before getting married. The film focuses on the traditional family values. A special place is devoted to the resistance put up by the woman’s parents as regards the choice of the partner, emphasis being placed on the suffering for the lost love.

The parts in the film were played by Moldovans and Romanians who settled in the United States and by U.S. actors. “Angel Back” was produced with a limited budget, on a U.S. scholarship to study at the university. The film was made in the state Arizona last December, within an academic course at the School of Film, Theater and Television of the University of Arizona.

The short film “Angels Back” will be screened within the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Awards on January 24.
