Shor Party says attempt to remove candidate Apostolova from race is illegal

The attempt to remove the candidate for mayor of Chisinau of the Shor Party Reghina Apostolova is illegal. If this happens, the elections can be declared invalid, the party’s leader Ilan Shor, mayor of Orhei, was quoted by IPN as saying in a news conference.

Ilan Shor wondered why no one sees when foreign politicians become involved in the election campaign or when some of the candidates are supported by the President of another state. In general, it is strange that the notification against Reghina Apostolova was filed by a party whose candidate in elections in Chisinau is an official person of another state. “Does anyone verify their financial reports? We possess information that they are financed from Romania. Did someone check them? No! Why? Because the task is to check us thoroughly and to try and discredit us, not them,” stated the politician.

He also said that pressure is exerted on the electoral bodies so as to eliminate Reghina Apostolova from the electoral race. The government and the satellite parties fear the Shor Party will obtain a good result in elections. Ilan Shor called on the international organizations working in Moldova to examine this case and to become involved.

For her part, Reghina Apostolova said she is not a politician, but is a person who held public posts with social and economic responsibilities in the sphere of public utilities. As a candidate for mayor, she daily takes part in meetings with inhabitants of Chisinau who believe in changes. The contenders are afraid of the powerful opponents and try to eliminate them. But the people will make a conscious choice and will know to choose between a politician and a manager, between a person who only makes promises and a person who does things.

The Shor Party announced it prepared two petitions – one against the National Unity Party that pleads for destroying the statehood, as the party said, and another ne against the candidate of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase, who is openly supported by an European official.

The Chisinau District Electoral Council on May 10 decided to notify the court of suspicions that the candidate for Chisinau mayoralty of the Shor Party Reghina Apostolova received money from Russia for the election campaign. If the reports are confirmed, the Council will demand to annul the registration of Reghina Apostolova as an election runner. The decision was taken following the provision of information by the president of the National Unity Party Anatol Salaru. Attending the meeting of the Electoral Council, Salaru said there are payment orders showing that a sum of 200,000 lei was transferred by a Russian company to a foreign capital enterprise based in Moldova. This, for its part, transferred the money as a donation to the electoral fund for conducting the election campaign of candidate Reghina Apostolova.
