Shipments of Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine could resume Tuesday, January 13, 10:00AM Moscow time, Gazprom deputy director Alexandr Medvedev was quoted by RIA Novosti as announcing. The news comes after the European Commission on Monday, January 12, signed a new version of the agreement on Russian gas transiting Ukraine. The document stipulated the immediate start of monitoring procedures as a major condition. The Russian party, which signed the document on Saturday, said it was ready to restart gas shipments through Ukraine once an international monitoring mission was in place, consisting of representatives from Gazprom, Naftogaz, Russian and Ukrainian energy ministries, an independent monitoring organization as well as representatives of the European companies supplied with Russian gas.
