Sheriff signs first player this winter

The Bosnian fullback of CFR Cluj Mateo Susic signed a three-year contract with Moldova’s current champion Sheriff Tiraspol, IPN reports.

The Romanian press reported that Susic was also wanted by the Hungarian team Gyor, which is trained by his former CFR coach Vasile Miriuta. The 24-year-old footballer chose to come to Moldova as the offered salary was higher.

Instead, Sheriff parted company with Columbian halfback Elkin Blanco, whose contract based on which he was ‘borrowed’ him Millonarios expired.

On January 30, the team from Tiraspol goes to Turkey for a three-week training session. The team trained by Zoran Zekic will play against Wisla Cracow, Bohemians Prague, the Craiova University and other teams.

Sheriff ranks third in the National Division. It has by six points fewer than the leading Dacia. Moldova’s championship is resumed on February 28.
