Sheriff Tiraspol went through to the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League after defeating Farul Constanța 3-0. Moldova’s champion scored a goal during the normal period and the game played in Tiraspol went into overtime, IPN reports.
The goals were scored by Talal (min. 45+1), Mbekeli (99) and Ademo (105+1). In the first leg, Farul won by 1-0. The return game took place on the main stadium of Tiraspol. This was the first duel of the European cups that was played in the Transnistrian region after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
Sheriff will now play a round against Israel’s champion Maccabi Haifa, while Farul Constanța will take part in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Europa Conference League.
