Several hundreds of veterans laid flowers on monuments to heroes

Veteran Zaharia Sclifos said that each year he comes to the graves of the fellows with who he fought to be close to them on the day of their commemoration. Colonel Veaceslav Untila told the agency that he has been in the Transnistrian region with the Traffic Police Platoon since 1991, being forced to leave the zone on November 24, 1991, while early in December the first fires were open and the first victims were reported. Untila says that during the war he was on the first line several times. On this day, along with the battle fellows, he comes to the heroes’ graves to lend the head for the bravery showed in the battle. Head of the Combatants’ Union in Moldova Eduard Maican stated that in that tragic year the banks of the Nistru River were flooded by the blood of the heroes who died for the country and nation. He said he came to commemorate the heroes and remember his fellows, so that the future generations recall that the country was created and kept due to the heroism showed on the banks of the Nistru River. As many as 287 combatants died and 3,500 were disabled in the war on Nistru River.
