Several categories of employees to receive higher salaries by yearend
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) promises that by the end of 2007 the salaries of the workers and auxiliary personnel will be increased by 25%; of the medical personal and that working in the field of social assistance - by over 30%; scientific researchers – by 22%; persons working in the cultural sector – by over 40%; university teachers – by over 50%; teachers working in the pre-higher and extra-school establishments – by 32%; teachers from secondary general institutions – by 17%, janitorial personnel – by 25%.
MEC’s report for the first semester of 2007 announces that starting 1 December 2007 the salaries of several categories of persons employed in the local public administration and of militaries will increase. In addition, a special increase was set for the employees of the state-paid organisations from the left side of Nistru – Varnita village, Anenii Noi district, and the villages of Copanca and Hadjimus, Causeni district.
As of April 1, 2007, the calculation base of the salaries of employees working in the public medical institutions included in the system of compulsory medical insurances was increased by 24%.
According to the cited source, the Collective Convention on the new quantum of the base pay for the first category of qualification, signed in May by the social partners, favours the growth of the salaries of persons working in the real sector of the economy. In this way, as of June 1, 2007, the tariff salary for the first qualification category of the employees working in the units with financial autonomy constitutes MDL 900 per month, by 28.6% more than the previously negotiated quantum, and for the persons working in agriculture and forestry – by at least MDL 700 per month.
As of April 1, 2007, the quantum of the minimum salary in the country is MDL 400 per month.
