Seven persons drown in one day
Seven persons, one of whom a minor, drowned in Moldova’s waters on August 8, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service.
According to the Service’s spokeswoman Liliana Puscasu, a 13-year-old boy from Olanesti village of Stefan-Voda district entered the Nistru River and did not come out. His parents were waiting for him on the bank, but did not see him alive anymore. A woman aged 40 from Corjova, Criuleni, also drowned in the Nistru.
A man of 37 drowned in a pond near Bacioi commune of the municipality of Chisinau, while another one of 47 lost his life in a lake in Congaz village of Gagauzia.
Another man aged 40 drowned in a lake in Glodeni, while two men aged 40 and 49 were swallowed by the waters of two lakes situated not far from Iablona village, Glodeni.
The same day, two men, of 38 and 67, died from carbon monoxide poisoning. In both cases, the fires were caused by burning cigarettes.
As many as 124 persons, including 19 minors, have drowned in Moldova this year.
